Governance

At Park, we are fortunate to have a committed Governing Body who work in partnership with school leaders to ensure the very best outcomes for all our pupils. Governors are volunteers drawn from our parents, staff, and local community. Together, they bring a wide range of skills and experiences to support and strengthen the leadership of the school.

The role of the Governing Body is a strategic one. Governors do not manage the day-to-day running of the school - that is the role of the Headteacher and senior leadership team. Instead, governors focus on the bigger picture, ensuring that the school continues to thrive, improve, and deliver a high-quality education for every child.

Their core responsibilities are to:

  • Set the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school, ensuring our values are at the heart of everything we do;

  • Hold school leaders to account for the quality of teaching, standards of achievement, and the wellbeing and development of both pupils and staff;

  • Oversee financial performance, making sure the budget is well managed and resources are used effectively to give the greatest benefit to children’s learning;

  • Ensure compliance with statutory responsibilities, including safeguarding, health and safety, equality, and inclusivity; and

  • Support and challenge the school, offering constructive guidance and questioning to help leaders reflect and improve.

Governors also play a key role in monitoring progress towards school priorities, visiting the school to see learning in action, and ensuring the voices of pupils, parents, and staff are heard in decision-making.

Being a governor is a voluntary role, but one that carries great responsibility. By working together, governors aim to ensure that every child at park is nurtured, inspired, and given the best possible start in life.
