Mental Health and Wellbeing

At Park Primary School, we believe that children learn best when they feel safe, happy and supported. Promoting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.

We recognise that every child is unique. Whilst many children thrive with the support of their class teacher and school staff, some may need additional help at different points during their time with us. We are proud to offer a range of specialist services to support children and their families.

Our support includes:

Emotional Literacy Support (ELSAs)

Our two full-time Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs) work with children who may need extra support with their emotional wellbeing, friendships, confidence, self-esteem or emotional regulation.

Place2Be

We work in partnership with Place2Be to provide professional counselling and mental health support within school. Qualified counsellors are based at Park Primary for two days each week, offering specialist therapeutic support for children who need it.

myHappymind

Every child takes part in the myHappymind programme, which helps children develop resilience, confidence, self-awareness and positive mental wellbeing through engaging, age-appropriate lessons.

Next Chapter Family Support

Our partnership with Next Chapter enables us to offer additional support for children, parents and families through a range of early intervention services, parenting programmes and family support.

Together, these services ensure that children receive the right support, at the right time, helping them to flourish both emotionally and academically.
